The family plot at Fairview Cemetery is marked
with a towering obelisk, at the base of which is inscribed the name "ELIAS
AYERS". Elias and his family and several of his in-laws are all
buried here. The individual stones marking his grave and the graves of
his wife and children are all inscribed "AYRES". So much for
etched in stone!
